A collaboration with chef Tara Lane and first-year students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Beastie Feastie was a performative installation and feast hosted for students and faculty.
The event focused around the theme of a zoo/laboratory run by animal scientists to study humans. Participants were lulled with video in a dark waiting area before being captured, tagged, and measured. Guests were then offered three courses of two options each: appetizers of different shapes, a main course in two distinct colors, and two distinct textures for dessert. Our team recorded the results of each subject’s choice, and these were constantly updated and displayed on the wall and online in real time. Participants were allowed to congregate on the floor to eat their meals while an eerie soundtrack created by Erin Levenstein, Kevin Gannon, and Samuel Blatt set the tone.
